Elena Pierard – final year PhD student at the Geography and the Environment Department at the University of Oxford.

Abstract | Bio

Elena is a DPhil student at the Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment. With a background in politics and organisational theory, her research focuses on how organisations decide to adapt to fit in emerging climate change economies. Prior to Oxford, Elena worked as Head of Department of Oil and Gas Policy at the Ministry of Energy in Mexico, where she led the design and selection of Oil and Gas Environmental Moratoria Areas, published by presidential decree in 2016. She has also worked on climate change policies both at a federal and local level. Her interests lie in the intersection of government and business in natural resources, climate change and environmental policies.
