Daniel Barker Flores is a doctoral student at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on territorial control within Latin American cities, studying state interventions into marginalised areas dominated by organised criminal groups. His doctoral thesis draws on original data gathered through fieldwork in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, and is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, as well as Green Templeton College Oxford where he is the Sir David Watson Scholar.
